Blacks In Government® (BIG) was established in 1975 and incorporated in 1976 by a small group of African Americans at the Public Health Services which is a part of the Department of Health, Education and Welfare in the Parklawn building in Rockville, Maryland.

National Memorial Wall

Each year during the Blacks In Government (BIG) Annual National Training Institute (NTI), BIG hosts a celebration to honor and recognize members who have passed since the previous NTI. This year’s Memorial Wall theme, “Unforgotten Service” celebrates the tireless work and accomplishments of our BIG members who have passed.   These members put the needs of others first, helped individuals develop and optimize their performance in BIG and in their careers.  They were willing to learn from others, forsaking personal advancement and rewards. WE Honor Your Service
