BIG Scholarship Program

Blacks In Government (BIG) partnered with the Federal Employee Education and Assistance (FEEA) Fund to offer BIG members' college-age children, and grandchildren $1,000 scholarships. Students will be entered in both the BIG contest and FEEA's regular scholarship contest with the submission of BIG's application..

Darlene H. Young Leadership Academy (DYLA)

Through coaching and training,the DYLA program help others to emerge as leaders.This leadership training vehicle develops professional and personal leadership skills for BIG members. This highly interactive training uses dynamic instruction and numerous activities to emphasize leadership traits to facilitate discussion on leadership issues.

Future Leaders of America (FLAG)

The FLAG program provide opportunities for youth to grow socially, intellectually, and emotionally. The program is designed to successfully meet developmental needs of youth and help them become productive citizens.

The FLAG program utilizes the talents and skills of BIG members as mentors to help youth transition from adolescence to adulthood. In line with BIG's preamble, this program will help ensure that our youth will have the opportunity for full, complete, and equitable access to jobs, education, advancement, housing and health services.

Monetary Assistance Program (MAP)

MAP provides monetary assistance to chapters and regional councils to support their specific activities and projects that are in line with the goals and objectives of BIG.

NOW Generation

The NOW Generation focuses on programming for young professionals of BIG under the age of 40 looking to enhance their success and become leaders in the workplace.

Oratorical Competition

The Oratorical Competition gives students a chance to showcase their oral and written communication skills. The competitions are open to students in grades nine (9) through twelve (12). Please peruse the BIG Mile High Youth Competition website for more information.

Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) Student Competition

The STEM competition was expanded to promote science, engineering, and technology (STEM) capabilities at the local and national level. For the youth, the STEM-SC will also serve to advance their social and economic well-being in the United States and internationally.

Students will design, build, and program their own mobile robots to compete against other students at the chapter, region and ultimately, national level. They will use robotics kits that provide various parts and pieces that will help them build and program a demonstration robot.
